Poverty Alleviation by China Association of Poverty Alleviation & Development

　　【Overview】As of 2010, China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development (CAPAD) had done a great deal of work in further implementing the instructions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on poverty alleviation and development, encouraging and mobilizing social forces to participate in poverty alleviation and development and mobilizing and guiding all circles of society to support the cause of poverty alleviation and development, and made a contribution to actively guiding and promoting social poverty alleviation.

　　【Chongqing Itinerant Exhibition of China’s Exemplary Figures in Poverty Alleviation and Development】 On July 15, 2010, the Opening Ceremony of Chongqing Itinerant Exhibition of China’s Exemplary Figures in Poverty Alleviation and Development jointly sponsored by China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development and Chongqing City People’s Government was successfully convened in Chongqing Three Gorges Museum. Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and Secretary of Chongqing Municipal Party Committee Bo Xilai, Chairman of China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development Hu Fuguo, LGOP Director-General Fan Xiaojian, Chairman of CPPCC Chongqing Xing Yuanmin and Member of the Standing Committee of Chongqing Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Chongqing Ma Zhengqi attended the opening ceremony. Bo Xilai announced the opening the Chongqing Itinerant Exhibition of China’s Exemplary Figures in Poverty Alleviation and Development and delivered an important speech on the event.

　　Member of the Standing Committee of Chongqing Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Chongqing Ma Zhengqi delivered a speech on the opening ceremony and the event was chaired by Vice Chairman of China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development Guo Dongpo. After the opening ceremony, Bo Xilai and other relevant leaders visited three exhibitions of the model figures, including 61 sculptures, 64 sets of 256 drawing boards with informative illustrations and over 300 splendid and vivid paintings and calligraphy works, and met with representatives of the exemplary figures.

　　On July 15, Love Art Troupe held at Chongqing Great Auditorium of the People a 3.5-hour large-scale theatrical performance - "In the Name of Warmness". On July 16, the seminar on poverty alleviation and signing ceremony of the poverty alleviation and development cooperation projects between China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government was held in King World Hotel. China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development signed the framework agreement on poverty alleviation and development respectively with Chongqing Poverty Alleviation Office and Chongqing Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development, and signed 21 cooperation agreements with representatives of relevant enterprises and relevant districts and counties of Chongqing.

　　【General Assembly of China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development】 On December 1, 2010, the Fourth General Assembly of China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development was convened in Beijing. On behalf of China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development, Executive Vice Chairman Tian Ruizhang made a report on the Association’s work over the past five years, carried out the general election of new leaders and, according to the decision of the general meeting, approved the modification of the Association’s constitution.

　　The Fourth Leading Group was formed at the General Assembly, Hu Fuguo was elected as the Chairman and 25 people including Guo Dongpo, etc were elected as the Vice Chairman. Li Shoushan acted as the Secretary-General and 240 people including Ma Xilin, etc were members of the Council.

　　The conference had great social repercussions. More than 40 mainstream media in the capital, including CCTV, Xinhua News Agency, "People's Daily", "CPPCC News," "People's Network", etc made a series of reports on the activity.

　　【Public Welfare Evening Party - Enriching Our Home】  On January 6, 2011, the annual large-scale Public Welfare Evening Party - Enriching Our Home co-organized by China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development and China Agriculture Film and Television Center with Fudi Health Technology Co., Ltd as the exclusive title sponsor was successfully convened in Beijing. CPPCC Vice Chairman Li Jinhua, former Vice Chairman of NPC Standing Committee Gu Xiulian, Chairman of China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development and former Secretary of Shanxi Provincial Party Committee Hu Fuguo, former Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council Guo Dongpo, former Vice Minister of Civil Affairs Li Baoku, former Director-General of National Weather Service Wen Kegang, former Political Commissar of the General Political Department Tian Aixi and other Vice Chairman of China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development attended the event. 

　　The event began in a festive atmosphere of the New Year. Divided into five sections, namely "holding up a house with great love", "finding true love in virtual world", "pre-loaded good ideas", "going through hardships to really help the poor" and "merciless act of God but favor deed of man", through news retrospective, the event made a systematic introduction to the current survival situation of the people in impoverished areas and the state’s pro-poor policies, and introduced the projects launched by China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development in recent years to explore a new model of poverty alleviation and development, including "Changzhi Drinking Water Project", "Education-based Poverty Alleviation Projects of Private Collages", "China Village Network Project", "Green Computer Poverty Relief Action", etc.

　　In addition to the introduction to a few public welfare models of poverty alleviation and development, the event also presented the elegant demeanor of China’s typical characters in poverty reduction, represented by warmhearted entrepreneur Chen Huaide, who donated nearly 200 million Yuan to society, “Beautiful Mom Xu Li” who adopted over 200 orphans, headmaster Cao Zhenfeng, who launched the project of “Education Project with Scholarship of 70 Million Yuan” and helped over 4,000 poor students to learn practical skills, etc.

　　In addition, the party also praised 9 enterprises that made outstanding contributions to the cause of poverty alleviation, calling for more people to devote into the eradication of poverty and narrowing wealth gap to promote common prosperity and build a socialist harmonious society.
