Inauguration Ceremony of China-Mozambique Kingho Poverty Reduction Cooperation Center



　　On the afternoon of July 23, 2012, the Inauguration Ceremony of China-Mozambique Kingho Poverty Reduction Cooperation Center and the Seminar on China-Mozambique Poverty Reduction Policy was held in Polana Serena Hotel of Maputo, the Capital City of Mozambique. Mr. Fan Xiaojian, Minister of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, China and Mr. Aiuba Cuereneia, Minister of Planning and Development, Mozambique were present at the occasion. About 80 participants including the officials from the Mozambique Government, the representatives from China Kingho Group and the members of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development Delegation witnessed the whole events.



　　In his speech, Mr. Aiuba Cuereneia, put forward that, the cooperation between Mozambique and China will definitely promote their social and economic development and the progress of their people’s welfare, since the present governments of both countries attach great importance to poverty reduction, and the establishment of China-Mozambique Kingho Poverty Reduction Cooperation Center will give strong support to this undertaking.



　　Mr. Fan Xiaojian, said that, the establishment of China- Mozambique Kingho Poverty Reduction Cooperation
Center is a milestone in the China-Mozambqiue cooperation on poverty reduction, which provides a solid and effective platform for their future cooperation, and the Center with the functions of policy consultancy, capacity
building, research and demonstrative community Project, will play an active role in supporting the implementation of Mozambique poverty reduction strategy.



　　Mr. Wu Zongyuan, General Manager in charge of overseas business of China Kingho Group, suggests that, the establishment of China-Mozambique Kingho Poverty Reduction Cooperation Center has created a new and effective mode of including enterprise development into government cooperation framework, and China Kingho Group will, as always, conscientiously fulfill its corporate social responsibility while contributing to social values.

Seminar on China-Mozambique Poverty Reduction Policy



　　As the first event after the establishment of China-Mozambique Kingho Poverty Reduction Cooperation Center, the Seminar on China-Mozambique Poverty Reduction Policy was held. Mr. Huang Chengwei, Deputy Director of International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), chaired the seminar.

　　Participants from both countries have gave in-depth introduction about the poverty reduction and rural development policies of the two countries, and they agree that the future revitalization and development of China and Mozambique still faces challenges from international economic and political order, and the seminar provides them a chance to communicate and exchange good experiences in poverty reduction and therefore to possess favorable position in dealing with challenges.

　　On the morning of July 24th, Mr. Fan Xiaojian visited the spot of China-Mozambique Kingho Poverty Reduction
Cooperation Center with all the members of his delegation, and took pictures with the staff of China Kingho Group in Mozambique.



　　The Establishment Background of the Center



　　On August 10 2011, with the presence of the presidents of the two countries, the Ministry of Planning and Development of Mozambique, International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) and China Kingho Group signed the Memorandum of Understanding on jointly setting up “China-Mozambique Kingho Poverty Reduction Cooperation Center”. The purpose of establishing China-Mozambique Kingho Poverty Reduction Cooperation Center is to promote their cooperation and communication in poverty reduction and social development.



　　As the initial step of practicing the Memorandum of Understanding on jointly setting up “China-Mozambique Kingho Poverty Reduction Cooperation Center”, from March 1 to 12 2012, an IPRCC delegation visited M oz ambi que. D ur ing t heir st ay in M oz ambi que, the delegation visited the Ministry of Planning and Development, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health and First Lady’s Office, with the aim of understanding the needs concerning poverty reduction of Mozambique.

　　The delegation also conducted on-the-spot research in two pilot villages of UN “Millennium Village” program, so as to explore possibility of conducting the Integrated Village Development Program, and visited China-Mozambique Center of Investigation and Transference of Agricultural Technology, and Hubei-Caza Friendship (Xiaxia) Farm. The objective of these work is to explore the possible channel of combining the future program of China- Mozambique Kingho Poverty Reduction Cooperation Center with the projects aided by Chinese government.



　　The delegation are having talks with the working staff at the Millennium Village.

　　The delegation pays a visit to China-Mozambique Agricultural Technological Demonstration Center, and conducts on-the-spot visit to its Greenhouse and cotton field.
