    1. Recently, National Development and Reform Commission released in advance part of the welfare-for-work program under the 2015 financial budget. The total nvestment for Shaanxi province is 191.6 million yuan, with 160 million for
    welfare-for-work program (including 31.6 million yuan for remuneration) and 31.6 million yuan for local fund. This program mainly focuses on the infrastructure construction in poor rural areas.

    2. The National Health and Family Planning Commission has sent a team of experts to Lvliang People’s Hospital for medical assistance. Designated by Beijing Hospital, seven experts from key disciplines constitute the medical assistance team.They will serve more people in the poverty-stricken areas, as well as help local hospitals improve the standard and quality of medical care through the mode of medical assistance.

    3. National project on training pioneers in starting businesses and gaining wealth in poverty-stricken counties has been initiated. 90 trainees from Gansu, Ningxia,Hubei, and Fujian Province started their one-month study of business lessons in Rongzhong village, Meishan country, Nan’an city of Fujian Province. The project creates a new training mode of mutual assistance between eastern and western regions,setting a good example for the large scale nationwide training of pioneers in starting businesses and gaining wealth.

    6. Jinan medical aid project for people in extreme poverty and with severe disease has been officially launched in Jiyang County, Shandong Province. This project is hosted by Shandong Jinan Hospital Association and joined by six other
    hospitals with a fund of 500,000 yuan raised to cater to patients with cataract, breast disease, osteopathy and diabetes.

    7. To encourage impoverished women to start their own businesses, Qinghai Province has granted small-sum guaranteed loans worth of nearly 1 billion yuan for over 20,000 impoverished women. Apart from streamlining loan handling procedures, the government will give 100% discount charges to cover the interest of personal loans, and 25% discount charges to labor-intensive enterprises.

A new round of activities for cadres to go to grassroots and help with poverty alleviation and rural income increase is launched in Hure Banner in Inner Mongolia. 47 teams formed by 235 selected cadres are sent to poverty-stricken villages to help alleviate poverty and increase income there. It must be ensured that every county could obtain assistance from its assistance unit, and every impoverished household should be paired with a responsible cadre.
